Land Registration
The Scottish Government consultation on land registration closed on 30 November 2010. Apart from the professional classes in property and law, it received little publicity or attention from civil society in Scotland. This reflects a long tradition of legal reforms to property law being developed by a narrow sector of self-interested parties as I explore in my book, The Poor Had No Lawyers.
I did my best to respond but cannot pretend to have done the 643 page Scottish Law Commission report the justice it deserves. There are numerous issues within it that need to be aired across a broader cross-section of society.
My response is here.
The Scottish Law Commission’s Report 222 and can be downloaded from the Scottish Law Commission website.
