Scotland Bill and the Crown Estate V
The Scottish Affairs Committee of the House of Commons has announced its intention to hold an Inquiry into the Crown Estate in Scotland. Further details have yet to be announced.
Labour has tabled Amendments in House of Commons to Scotland Bill Clause 18 (amendments 19-22). They concern changing the name of the Scottish Crown Estate Commissioner to the “Crown Estate Commissioner for Scotland” (amendments 19 & 20), and proposing that this person be appointed on the recommendation of Scottish Ministers with agreement of Chancellor of Exchequer rather than by Chancellor who shall consult Scottish ministers before making recommndation as it stands in the Bill (amendment 21). It is also proposed that the qualifications of this person be more clearly stated (amendment 22).
Modest but welcome.
We await report of Scotland Bill Committee at Holyrood sometime later this week or early next week.
