Agricultural Tenant Registrations Reach 1000

On Tuesday 27 January, the number of registrations [Note this register is currently unavailable online – Nov 2023] by agricultural tenants under the Agricultural Holdings (Scotland) Act 2003 reached 1000. This is a very signifcant milestone as it means that there are 1000 separate landholdings held by farming tenants who now have the right to buy if and when their landlord sells the farm. This has been a much more successful piece of legislation that the Community Right to Buy and demonstrates the benefits of a simple and straightforward process (as in the Tenant farmer right to buy) as opposed to the continuing nightmare and bureaucracy of the Community Right to Buy.
